Safety

First Water is a registered United States Coast Guard recreational boat manufacturer.  Each boat is assigned a unique U.S.C.G hull identification number starting with the First Water Manufacturer Identification Code FWB.  The hull identification number is a safety precautionary measure to clearly identify boat owners involved in a defect notification or recall campaign. The Manufacturer Factory Visit Program ensures boaters and regulators that manufacturers are complying with the safety regulations.

First Water is a Montana Professional LLC offering mechanical engineering services to the marine industry.  As licensed professional engineers our primary obligation is to protect the safety, health, property and welfare of the public. All design documents are sealed by a professional engineer to be in conformity of accepted engineering standards and safe for public use.

Upon completion of our manufacturing facility, First Water will register as a manufacturer and member of the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).  All of our boats and accessories will be built to ABYC safety standards.  These standards have been continuously researched, developed and revised by marine professionals from the private and public sectors.  Standards dictate things such as maximum weight capacity, flotation requirements, and suitable construction materials. They ensure recreational boaters that their time on the water is safe and enjoyable.

We adhere to the laws and regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.  The boat shop is designed in compliance with the International Building, Fire, Energy Conservation, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.   In addition, you can read our sustainability pledge here.
